Even the seagulls found it tough going to make headway let along the lumbering liners that had to berth in that blusterly westerly in Fremantle Harbour today. Here the camera catches four gulls (circled) as well as two tugs straining to turn the migrant ship Fairsea in midstream. The Fairsea was turning to go into her - benrfflit No. 3, North Wharf, when she was caught by wind and tide. Crabwise, she edged down the harbour towards the railway bridge. Then, off H shed, the tugs (with the aid of a bow anchor from the liner) finally got her round. The operation took more than an hour. August 4, 1955.
