French Naval Survival Test - The three "survivors" being drawn alongside the "Rescue" ship after their six-day ordeal. Lieut, Blot: Quarter Master Grelot; and Commander Aury. Only three of the ten volunteers taking part in a six-day survival test in the Atlantic, off Brest, were able to last out the ordeal. The others were "Rescued" at varying times during the six-day period. The party were set adrift on a rubber raft and attempted to exist for six days on a diet of attempted to exist for six days on a diet of sea water and ship's biscuits only, plus any fish they were able to catch and eat raw. The test - part of French naval experiments followed the ories of Dr. Alain Bombard, who in 1952 drifted across the Atlantic for 65 days and living only on sea water and fish. March 29, 1955.
