The United States Navy recently authorized production of a "Sizeable quantity" of its new F7U-3 "Cutlass", a radical twinjet, tail-less, fighter plane. Adapted to aircraft carrier operation, the fast-climbing airplane 30mbines high-altitude performance and extreme maneuverability. The Cutlass bas a top speed of more than 600 miles per hour, and is powered by two trubo-jet engines, with after-burners for short bursts of additional speed.
