"Clare Luce U.S. Envoy To Rome And Vatican" -- Mrs. Clare Boothe Luce, famous as playwright ("The Women"), as wife of Henry Luce the publisher of "Time", "Life" and "Fortune", as leading hostess in pro-Republican society, will, according to Press reports, be the next U.S. Ambassador in Rome and will also serve as unaccredited Envoy to the Vatican. Clare Luce is 49, was Republican Congresswoman for Connecticut from 1943 to 1947 but was defeated when trying to gain election as one of Connecticut's Senators in the 1952 contest which brought General Eisenhower to power.
