American Independence Day Service at St. Paul's Presentation by General Eisenhower - Left to right: Foreign Secretary Herbert Morrison, Mr. Winston Churchill and Mr. Anthony Eden, Leaving St. Paul's after the ceremony. For the first since the victory celebrations, British and American troops marched together in London. With bands. they marched through the City to St. Paul's cathedral, for the special Independence Day Service at which General Eisenhower handed to Dr. Mathews, the Dean, a Roll of Honour containing the names of 28,000 Americans who lost their lives when based in Britain during the war. The Rollis to be placed in a glass case in the north transept until the American Memorial Chapel is ready at the eastern end of the Cathedral. The Queen, Princes Elizabeth, Princess Margaret, the Duchess of Kent, and Princess Marie Louise were at the service. July 04, 1951.
