For the first since the victory celebrations, British and American troops marched together in London. With bands. they marched through the City to St. Paul's cathedral, for the special Independence Day Service at which General Eisenhower handed to Dr. Mathews, the Dean, a Roll of Honour containing the names of 28,000 Americans who lost their lives when based in Britain during the war. The Rollis to be placed in a glass case in the north transept until the American Memorial Chapel is ready at the eastern end of the Cathedral.
