Airborne Lifeboats For Saving Life At Sea: Demonstration For Co-Ordination Of Safety At Isle Of Wight. An airborne lifeboat, dropped by Lancaster aircraft, comes down to the sea, supported by parachutes to slow it's rate of fall. The value of this method of life-saving at sea is well known. Demonstrations for the co-ordination of saving life at sea and in the air were given at the Isle of Wight, here, at which members of the International committee of experts in the fields of aviation, shipping, telecommunications, and meteorology, now meeting in London to consider what special arrangements are necessary for the further co-ordination of their activities, were present.
