The King Distributes Maundy Pence at the Abbey. The King distributed the traditional Maundy Pence in ***** star Abbey today, April 9th. It was one of those characteristic acts which have bound him so closely to his people. It was the first time for 250-years that a monarch has discharged every duty on Maundy Thursday, with the exception of the washing of the poor persons feet, which was last performed by King James II.
