Britain's New Liner Enters The Water -- The new 28,000 ton Peninsular and Orient liner 'Iberia' enters the water after its launching at the Harland and Wolff shipyards, Belfast, today (Thursday). The ship was named by Lady McGrigor, wife of the First Sen Lord, Admiral Sir Choderick McGrigor. She is a sister ship of the Arcadia which was built on the Clyde and is due to make her maiden voyage from Tilbury to Australia next month. The Iberia is a twin-screw geared turbine Liner built on modern lines for carrying passengers and cargo. The passenger accommodation provides 674 first class and 733 tourist class berths, Overall length of the ship is about 7183/4 feet and the breadth at its widest part is 93 feet. January 21, 1954.
