Modern Mill Owner -- Rex Mayall, whose cotton mills produce fine colour shirtings and rayon textiles that are in demand all over the world, particularly in the United States and Canada, is a good example of the modern mill owner, the man who has to work miracles. Thirty-nine years of age, tall, his speech hall-marked by his native Lancashire, he is the dynamic force in his mills. He believes that bright, cheerful, clean working conditions attract the right type of mill girl, believes that good management does away with the majority of workers' complaints. Proof that he is right can be seen in his mills which have doubled production and is one of the big dollar-earning units of Lancashire. September 07, 1951. (Photo by British Official Photograph).
