Scotland 'S' New Great Seal - The Queen today (Thursday) approved the redesigned Great Seal of Scotland at a meeting of the Privy Council held at Buckingham Palace. The Seal, renewed for each reign, was appointed by the Treaty of Union, 1707, to replace the pre-Union Great Seal. The side shown here, designed by Mr. Gilbert Ledward, Ra, and engraved at the Royal mint, shows the Queen, crowned and throned, wearing her Robes of State and the collar ***** the order of the Thistle and holding he Sciptre and the Orb. July 15, 1954.
