The King Drives In State To Open Parliament: The colourful scene as the Royal Coach followed by its escort turns into Horse Guards Parade from the Hall during the State drive to the Opening of Parliament this morning (Tuesday). The King, accompanied by the Queen, drove in State from Buckingham Palace to the House of (Lords for the opening of Parliament this morning, Tuesday. Their Majesties were escorted by a Captain's Escort of Household Cavalry and preceding the royal coach was a carriage containing the crowns. On arrival at the Victoria Tower, Westminster, the King and Queen were met by the Great Officers of State and then Preceded to the Robing Room. To salute the arrival at the Westminster, a troop of Royal Horse Artillery fired 41 guns from St. Jame's Park. November 12, 1946.
