Danny Guards The Royal Plate: Danny, a specially trained mastiff dog, stands guard over a consignment of royal plate from Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle in a van outside the Victoria and Albert Museum, South Kensington, London, to-day (Thursday). Police motor cyclists escorted the van which took a collection of 165 pieces to be exhibited at the museum from February 19 to April 19. The exhibition is only possible because of the absence of the Queen abroad. It will be the first time that some of the State plate will be shown to the public as a unity. While the sovereign is in the country it has to be ready at all times for State occasions. January 14, 1954. (Photo by Reuterphoto).
