Daughters of the Nile: One in every hundred of the half a million Egyptians on parade in Cairo November 14 was a woman. Taking part in such a national demonstration for the first time, they sacrificed lipstick and other cosmetics to follow their aged premier through the streets of Cairo in a rigidly silent anti-British demonstration. Many wore all-black dresses; others draped themselves in Egyptian flags. Twin objects of the three day "Hate Britain" campaign which opened with the procession are less Britons in Egypt and more Egyptians in the Sudan. November 15, 1951.
