Fiji Will Welcome The Queen -- During her visit to Fiji the Queen will watch a number of ceremonial activities. Here the Fijians are receiving Kava, the national drink, made from the dried root of a plant belonging to the pepper family. The making and serving of Kava is a job for young men. Here one of the Kava attendants, dressed in ceremonial attire of Bark-Cloth and flower garlands hands out cups of Kava to the seated guests. Her majesty the queen and duke of Edinburgh are due to arrive at the Island of Fiji on December 17. This will be the first pacific call made in the Royal tour. December 2, 1953.
