Two of the Nuns, who were liberated when the U.S. forces under General MacArthur made an invasion at Hollaudia, Dutch New Guinea , are assisted down the ramp of a U.S. landing craft after their journey from Hollandia to a rear base. These Nuns and 121 other missionaries were freed ***** internment by the Japanese since the beginning of the war. They immediately received food, clothing, and medical treatment from the conquering Americans. May 11, 1944. (Photo by US Signal Corps Photo).
