London's "Week-End" Soldiers in Training -- Unarmed combat is part of the tough training for the paratroopers. Recruits watch a fighting demonstration by Sergeant Boylong and Corporal Wilkes at the headquarters of the 10th Parachute Regiment in London. A feature of Britain's Territorial Army is the introduction of Parachute Battalions. Men of the Territorials are all volunteers and do most of their training during the evenings and week-ends. The Parachute men are all selected for general mental and physical fitness and there is great competition among the recruits to become a fully qualified member of the famous Corps. February 03, 1950.
