The Spectacular Hindu Festival Dussera Which Passes Peacefully On October 7th Lahore, India -- The festival is in commemoration of the victory of Rama in the great war which he had to fight to win back his wife Sita who has been stolen from him. Effigies of the demon King Ravana and his relatives are burned mist much rejoicing. Though the Hindus make merry over the fall of the Demon King, he is respected by devout members on account of his vast knowledge of Vedas and Shastras (Hindu religious books of immemorable age).
