Tricky Landing! R.A.F. Flies Supplies to Greenland Expedition -- It's a tricky landing for Sunderland flying-boat "D for Dog" as it comes down at Young Sound, 'jumping-off' place for the taking of essential stores to Britannia Lake, the main camp of the British North Greenland expedition, some 190 miles away. The stores were taken up by Sunderland flying-boats of the Royal Air Force Coastal Command and by Hasting aircraft of Transport Command. This was the third year in succession that the Royal Air Force undertook to assist the Expedition. August 1, 1953. (Photo by Peter Skingley, United Press Photo).
