In The Lebanon Trouble Area -- A deputation made its way to the British and later the American Legations. The crowds to the American Legation included a large proportion of well-to-do people including young women. In an attempt to resolve the Lebanon crisis the French committee of National Liberation released the president, the premier and the six arrested ministers on Sunday Nov. 21st. All shops were due to re-open on Nov. 24th. Mean while Mr. MacMillan, the British ministers in N. Africa and Major General Sir Edward Spears, the British minister to Syria and the Lebanon, are in close touch with the Lebanese and French authorities. November 25, 1943.
