Thousands of people poured into the Myer Emporium to-day when booking opened for the 1956 Olympic Games. A three-deep queue (above) stretched from a special entrance to the store in Lonsdale Street for more than 100 yards along the street to the Swanston Street corner. Several people had waited outside the store overnight. Booking, which opened at 9 a.m., began simultaneously in Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Melbourne. May 18, 1955.
