ATC Band At Practice. Squadron-Leader Fred Clarke 40, Commanding officer of the Borough Green ATC Squadron, was a worried man. In front of him stood six even more worried-Looking cadets holding gleaming new cornets. "Please please, boys, try to remember" the C6.begged. One of the boys lifted his cornet to his lips and played. Squadron-Leader Clarke clapped his hands over his ears. The C.O. groaned. In a week's time the band was due to play at a garden party, and the boys had forgotten the tunes they has leant by heart. What was worse, they didn't know a note of music. March 8, 1949.
