Caves Hid Japs - Huge yawning caves, similar to this one, were employee by the Japanese on Biak Island, off the Coast of Dutch New Guinea, in a vain effort to halt U.S. forces. The Nips had 81 mm mortars and ack-ack guns in this one to harass the Yank advance. July 7, 1944. (Photo by USA Signal Corps).
