Blasting The Way For Italian Invasion -- That was the job of the 12th Air Force--softening up German defense in the Salerno sector so the fifth Army could land. And this is the way it was done. Bombs pitched by Martin Marauders Rip at the Railroad yards,shore installations and buildings along the water front at Salerno.
