The Vehicles were formally handed over to Lady reading, President of The W.V.S. by the Australian High Commissioner, (Mr. S.M. Bruce). In response to a letter sent to New South Wales suggesting that money might be raised for one canteen, ?24,4000 was raised which, instead of one canteen enabled a formidable fleet of 100 vehicles to be sent, including 21 mobile canteens and other essential vehicles.
