Puppeteer Peter Scriven rehearses Johnny Bray, who will shed real tears on to the acquiescent head of a demure fan when the puppets make their Christmas bow at the Theatre Royal. Stimulated by the recent visit of a well-known singer, Mr. Scriven has created his Johnny Bray - a puppet who weeps by the bucketful as a mournful Little White Cloud floats across the stage.. Meanwhile, a well-padded female puppet descends to one knee and you can almost see her heart beating. December 14, 1954.
