In his 1912 car, Mr. O'Meagher provides a contrast with a modern car on the road from Kilmore today. Lower: Mr. O'Meagher raises the bonnet of the car to do some oiling. A car which has worn out six speedometers is chugging towards Melbourne today on the last leg of a 600-mile trip from Penrith in NSW. At the wheel is 74-year-old Mr. Lancelot C. O'Meagher, who has owned the car for 22 years. Mr. O'Meagher spent last night in Kilmore at one of Victoria's oldest hotel - the Red Lion. He was up at six this morning and spent three hours polishing his 40-year-old car-a 1912 Renault. The engine is a 9 h.p. two cylinder job. It starts with one turn of the handle. February 29, 1952.
