A model of the Boeing Jet, transport. Mr. John T. Trippe, President of Pan American World Airways announced to-day (Thursday) that the company has ordered 45 American-built jet transports. It is the first purchase of U.S. made jetliners and represents an Investment of ?96, 000, 000. Contracts have been placed with the Boeing Airplane Company of Seattle, Douglas Airplane Company of Santa Monica, and the Pratt and ***** division of United Aircraft Corporation of East hartford, Connecticut, makers of the Jet turbine engines to be used.
