New Liner has 'Welsh Bonnet' Funnel: Already named 'the Welsh Bonnet' by the vessel's commander, Captain N.A. Whinfield, is the unusual top of the funnel - pictured here - of the new Orient liner Orsova (28,000 tons). The funnel's ability to disperse smoke and smut has already been tested in the fitting-out basin and will be tested still more thoroughly at sea during the Orsova's trials, which will begin about March 10. The new liner, built in Vickers-Armstrongs' yard at Barrow-in-Furness, has accommodation for 1,498 passengers. March 3, 1954. (Photo by Reuterphoto).
