After the Fight - Cartier Fights The fight after the fight had ended. Cartier (left), teeth bared in Fury, goes for Randolph Turpin. One of the most extraordinary incidents experienced by British boxing in recent years occured at Earl's Court, London, last night. The American Walter Cartier was disqualified in the second round of his ten round fight against the British middleweight champion, Randolph Turpin. The disqualification was for "continual holding." Cartier had been warned several times before referee Tommy Little gave his decision. March 18, 1953. (Photo by Paul Popper).
