Pontresina: Life in the High Alps of Switzerland -- Heidi, Daughter Of The Mountains: Heidi Melchior, aged 10, is the daughter of a guide, also the grandfather of a guide. She is fair and blue-eyed, happy ad smiling. For four months of the year - June, July, August, September - she has holidays, the local school close down and children are five to enjoy themselves, take odd jobs in hotels, or help at home.
