Roman London Comes To Light -- Don Durein, and American archaeologist working on the Newcomen Street site, shows one of his finds to some little Londoners who watch the proceedings with interest. Many valuables clues to the life of Londoners in ancient days have been brought to light by a team of American, Dutch and British archaeological students, who are excavating blitzed sites south of London Bridge at King's Head Yard, Borough High St., at Newcomen Street. The earliest levels have been reached at the former site where remains of a Roman house have been found, together with a quantity of pottery, bones and bronze pieces. August 13, 1946.
