Crowds' All Night To See Test -- Bradman thumbs the pitch and Yardley tries the wicket with his foot the wicket with his foot at the Oval today (Sat.). About 5,000 people had already formed a queue at the Oval by 8 am today (Sat.) for the fifth Test Match. Under grey skies they formed two queues on either side of the main turnstiles. Most of the fans started to form up just after 5 am many of whom had spent the night in the open. Early forecasts, based on an inspection of the ground, were that the possibility of play before lunch was 'very remote'. August 14, 1948. (Photo by Reuterphoto).
