City Hall - Brisbane's dignified ?1milliona City Hall was invaded on Saturday Dec. 11 by hordes of excited, squealing children - 10,000 guests of the Lord Mayor (Ald. Roberts, M.L.A.). Five thousand children up to 14 years of age attended a Christmas party given by Ald. Roberts this morning and another 5,000, including many from institutions, packed the hall of a second party this afternoon. Children started queueing outside the City Hall at 6.30 a.m. for the morning party. The functions are the largest children's parties held in Australia. The huge audience at the first party - the hall seats 2,2?? adults - almost lifted the great dome with their din as they shouted encouragement to three speedway riders who took part in a wooden horse derby.
