Model To Analyse Flow Of The Thames -- Mr. W.A. Price, the assistant engineer on the Thames model, introduces dye into the water to enable the current to be seen. By this means the speed of the tides can be calculated. Mr. Price is working on a section of the model representing the Tilbury Basin. In shed No. 8 at the Royal Victoria docks a model has been built of the Thames. It is 400 feet long and all the docks in London Harbour are reproduced in detail. the port of London Authority are using the model to investigate the drift of mud on the river bottom and so hope to be able to control the silt and thus reduce dredging costs.
