A recent picture of Count Sforza the Italian Foreign Minister who withdrew his candidacy for the Italian Presidency because the Moderate Socialists would not support him. Count Sforza's chances of becoming President which appeared quite rosy after the second ballot, were wrecked by this move of the Moderate Socialists led by Signor Saragat. Senator Luigi Einaudi Vice Premier and Minister for the Budget in the present Government was Elected First President of the Italian Republic by the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate sitting in joint session at the Montecitorio Parliament building.
