Keel Laid For New Cunarder -- Laying the keel of the new Cunarder - 1331 - at Belfast, Northern Ireland. The keel was laid this week for the second of two combined passenger, and cargo liners of the Cunard White Star Company's postwar building programme. The vessel, known sent only by her yard number 1331, is being built in the yards of Messrs Harland and Wolf at Belfast, Northern Ireland. She will have a gross tonnage of 13,700 tons, a length of about 500 feet an a beam of 70 feet. Equipped with cargo facilities of the latest type, including refrigerator space, the liner will play an important role in the company's North Atlantic Service. March 23, 1946.
