Man Behind The Big Fights. Jack Solomons, the London fishmonger who has become Britain's biggest fight promoter, lights up his cigar (he is rarely without one). An East-Ender, Jack fought himself until he was seventeen; then he decided he could make more and take fewer knocks getting other people to fight. Now he is Internationally famous and is extending his promoting activities into many European countries. Besides Jack in London we can see in the picture Jack in Madison Square Gardens, New York, Jack in Sweden (tvstnad, Stanna, Bilmotorn), Jack in Paris, and Jack as one of the heads watching the big championship at Tottenham between Bruce Woodcock and Freddie Mills. November 26, 1953. (Photo by Pictorial Press).
