Testing Navy's New Portable Mooring Mast The U.S.S. Los Angeles, hooked to the new portable mooring mast, leaves the hangar here as the mast is drawn gut upon the field by a tractor preparatory to testing the new facilities which the new apparatus offers for landing as well as launching. The portable mast passed the test satisfactorily and is said to mark a real development in hangar equipment since it greatly decreases the number of men required to assist in the "take-off."
