Fluorescein angiogram of the retina of the right eye of a 44 year old male patient with retinoschisis, a separation of the layers of the retina, the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye. The separation leads to the formation of cysts that can lead to nerve damage. Retinoschisis may be due to a genetic disorder (x-linked retinoschisis), or acquired with age. It can lead to blurred vision, but rarely leads to blindness.
