He became a Lieutenant in the 9th (East Norfolk) Regiment on 12 September 1834. His death is recorded under in the 1837 Army List. A regimental history records a number of deaths from cholera in the 9th Regiment at around this time when it was serving in India, and John Spring may have been one of these.); by National Army Museum .
