Photograph, India, North West Frontier, Chitral Expedition, 1895. ?Biddy? accompanied his master with the Chitral Field Force in 1895. This campaign on the North West Frontier of India was prompted by a siege of the Chitral garrison by local tribesmen. After six weeks a relief column rescued the 350 Indian troops at Chitral. Edwardes was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (DSO) for his services during the campaign, including the defence of the post of Reshan. ?Biddy? had to be content with the India Medal 1895-1902, with clasp: Relief of Chitral 1895.?
