5053548 The east almshouse, Almshouse Lane, Douglas, Isle of Man, 1932-34 (b/w photo) by Frowde, John James (1868-1946); Manx National Heritage (Isle of Man); (add.info.: On the back of this photograph John James Frowde writes, "East almshouse & part of the west one, with what is left of Stowell\'s Lane on the W. side. Looking into Fort St. with the Coalyard office building seen at rear. These Almshouses may remain isolated for some time. It appears that the donor, in his will, divided the interest between the Wardens of St. Matthew\'s & S. Barnabas\'. The S. Matthew\'s Wardens have ever since had charge of them, & it is only now that the S.Barnabas Wardens have become aware of their part ownership of the buildings under the old will. There have doubtless been some emoluments from the houses, since they ceased to function as almshouses, & these the St. B. folk naturally deserve to share, as is their just due."); by Manx National Heritage .
