He was always present at those early morning Sunday Communions, was a Lay Reader, & a great help to Canon Taggart in many ways. An extraordinarily well-read man, considering his handicaps, and had made a special study of astronomical matters. 27.6.33 Hugh Taggart stated that one of the box pews either side of the (Holy Table) Altar was tenanted by Capt.
