5052838 No. 6 Durie Lane, Douglas, Isle of Man, 1932-34 (b/w photo) by Frowde, John James (1868-1946); Manx National Heritage (Isle of Man); (add.info.: On the back of this photograph John James Frowde writes, "No 6 Durie Lane, a fine old mansion in by-gone days. Described variously as \'The Duke of Atholl\'s house\' and also \'Durie House.\' See notes on later prints in this route (RIII). Prior to these demolitions no photo had ever been possible to get other than in profile - as this - from either end of the narrow lane. On left, note the roof angle (sketch) on gable of No 19. This indicates the height of the old "Stepdown Inn" which stood on this site. Said to have functioned as the first Douglas Post Office. See photo temp 1898 in New Bond St. section no2." Additional notes: "? replace by Keig\'s StepD Inn." : "For this subs a pc of my old plate of Durie Lane with the small girl 1898." : "this no good."); by Manx National Heritage .
