5052515 Durie House, Douglas, Isle of Man, 1932-34 (b/w photo) by Frowde, John James (1868-1946); Manx National Heritage (Isle of Man); (add.info.: On the back of this photograph John James Frowde writes, "Nearly all of the front of Durie House in full view. The quaint doorway, which was adorned with the brass knocker of unusual size and pattern. I have a picture of it for reference. The hall of No6 was as large as a bedroom in a modern house of the (1934) bungalow type. And I have seen this hall packed with boxes of oranges, and casks of apples, a good many years ago, when the occupant would seem to have been a wholesale dealer in fruit." Additional note: "Staircase at the extreme rear of the hall winding up to the landing of the floor above." [small sketch to illustrate].); by Manx National Heritage .
