5052446 Old cannon on the corner of Stowell\'s Lane & New Bond St, Douglas, Isle of Man, 1932-34 (b/w photo) by Frowde, John James (1868-1946); Manx National Heritage (Isle of Man); (add.info.: On the back of this photograph John James Frowde writes, "The old cannon on the corner of Stowell\'s Lane and New Bond St left solitary amongst the ankle-deep lime dust around about it. It was dug out with considerable difficulty, when it was found that both trunnions had been broken off, and for months lay on the ground, it being of no interest to anyone. There is only one of these old cannons now remaining in the town proper, that standing in the pavement by the Douglas Hotel. There are, however, nine of them on the Tongue, of various calibre, where they serve as bollards for mooring vessels. In the background, full view of the extended rear of \'The Old Fort\', (so called), no 1 Fort St. On L the square shaft that contained the winding staircase leading to the upper floors. (See Fort St section)."); by Manx National Heritage .
