This house replaced an earlier (circa 1870?) in which lived the father of Mr Joseph Kaye, former Mayor of Douglas, and grandfather of Mr Sidney Kaye, Dentist. One day Mr Joseph Kaye, passing saw a workman selling, at 1d each, some of a quantity of \'discs\' he had dug out of the sand. Mr Kaye bought a handful and Mr Sidney Kaye still has three of them: gold Angels and Rose Nobles, of the Tudor and earlier times. The five in the Museum were part of this find and were bought from Mr Wallace of Distrington for about 瞿40. Two have been found recently in the same area during demolitions." Additional note: "When did old Wallace clear out - roundabout the middle of last century?\' \'Finder of 1st - McKibbon. Second was retrieved by Mr Neely and reported to Government Office: sent to British Museum for report. In poor condition. They are all exceedingly thin. This was stated by the BM as of Richard III date. Our Museum has it, and (November 1934) an electro reproduction of it is with the other reproductions at the top of the case, in a line, in the Kermode gallery."); by Manx National Heritage .
