5052362 In Fort Street, Douglas, Isle of Man, 1932-34 (b/w photo) by Frowde, John James (1868-1946); Manx National Heritage (Isle of Man); (add.info.: On the back of this photograph John James Frowde writes, "In Fort St. The quaint entrance and little cobbled courtyard to no 1, and the wrought iron gate that mysteriously disappeared. I asked Mr Bridge about it but he found no trace of what had become of it. This building has long been known in the vicinity as "The Old Fort". It was some 140 yards from the old Fort rampart, (incorporated in the Victoria Pier!) and was the nearest building to it. See later what the demolition of the house revealed, as stated previously."); by Manx National Heritage .
