3738619 Altar plaque from Holy Trinity Church, South Shields, c.1896 (brass) by English School, (19th century); 17.8x27.9x0.2 cm; Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums; (add.info.: Brass wall plaque from Holy Trinity Church, South Shields. The plaque is in remembrance of Reverend John Coulson and to mark that the three centre panels of the altar screen were erected in his memory., Reverend Coulson, Vicar of the parish for 24 years, died on 3 September 1896. There is a decorative border engraved around the inscription and six holes for the wall fixing have been drilled into the four corner and centre top and bottom motifs of the design. Although the name Edward M. Thew (possibly the engraver) is not engraved on this plaque the decorative border is identical to item TWCMS : 2011.3062. "The three centre panels of this Reredos were erected in loving memory of the Revd. John Coulson M.A. for 24 years the Faithful Vicar of this Parish.
