Calcium concretions in human pineal gland, light micrograph. With age, the pineal gland shows a progressive increase in calcium deposits in the form of calcium concretions. This is a pineal gland in which the deposit of concretions is starting. Calcium concretions can be located in the pineal parenchyma or in the connective tissue stroma, as is the case here. Note the marked lobulation of the parenchyma.
